Our philosophy began with a simple idea. We can work together to reduce our carbon footprint, one step at a time. Anything is possible if we combine forces to collectively change our consumer behaviours. Together, WE can save our world.
Our founder, Michael, started Turning The Tides after looking for ways to reduce his carbon footprint, and make a positive difference in the world. One of the major themes he came across was the staggering amount of plastic that ends up in our oceans, rivers, and coastlines each year - over 2.4 million tons! After learning about this enormous problem, he knew something had to be done.
Turning The Tides was born with giving back in mind. Our coconut shells are sourced and crafted in Vietnam, benefiting the local farming families in numerous ways. Not only do they have less waste in their landfills, they also have an additional source of income and have learned a new trade.
One of our main principles as an organization is supporting circular economies. That’s why the money you spend buying our products benefits the Vietnamese farmers and directly contributes to the removal of garbage from our oceans, rivers, and coastlines via the Pound + program with 4Ocean. We strongly believe in people over profits and realize the value and power that collective intention has in healing.
We thank you for supporting our organizations, families, and the beautiful earth that we all call home. We look forward to working with you to change the world, one bowl at a time!
We have four core values that shape our daily routines and push us to succeed at the things we do best, and saving the environment at the same time.
